WHSA Youth Regatta - 7th September 2025
Congratulations to all the 80 sailors who participated to the WHSA Youth Regatta on 7th Sep.
Turnout was really good with two fleets composed of Lasers, Quests, Fevas and Fusions on the blue fleet, and then Toppers, Picos, Zests, Teras and Cadets on the green fleet.
The mixture between sailors from the Sea Cadets, Wembley Sailing Club, Welsh Harp Sailing Club, Phoenix Canoe club and the Bury Lake Young Mariners provided great ambiance and promised good competition on the water.
Wind had decided to be there and play with the race officer nerves, shifting by 90 degrees every now and then. Safety boats got busy, sailors hiked always a bit harder, and the day provided a great and fun regatta.
After a huge rigging session and the various briefings, tally boards got up, and kids launched mid morning. Start lines were long and busy, race officers had to juggle with hull numbers sail numbers BIB numbers or any other means of identification really, safety boats showed the way to the next buoys, and soon sailors had completed the first two races of the morning, and returned to the club where the team had assembled a well deserved shared pic-nick
Breeze picked-up further in the afternoon, and at times the fleets get decimated by gusts with serial capsizes. Two more races got completed in the afternoon, and everyone returned ashore safely.

Thumbs up for the 18 helpers who did an incredible job and made the event possible, race officers, safety boat, kitchen caterer, registration, results and of course lively colorful tally boards :) An enormous thanks for the volunteers RYA instructors on site who provided the extra professional touch.
Thanks every one, keep tuned for the next events on the Harp, starting with the ITCA Regional Topper traveller on the 16th Nov !!
Any juniors interested in more sailing and maybe winter squads, get in touch with Clem and her team !!
