+++ COVID-19 Update +++
Date: 1st Aug 2020
This is a further update on the clubs activities. I hope you are all getting through these difficult times and staying safe. The committee is constantly monitoring the situation with regard to government guidelines and also from our governing body, the RYA. Our top priority is the safety of everybody but also we appreciate that sailing is a very important social outlet and good for our wellbeing. We are conscious that this is a fast changing situation and some of the easing measures may be reversed so please bear with us.
So to update you where we stand now
As of the 16th August we are going to adopt the following policies.
Racing: Sundays and Wednesdays to recommence.
+++ The club does not want any members doing these duties who don’t feel safe conducting them. Please contact the duty officer if you feel so. You should bring any PPE yourself you feel you need. The sanitiser sprays should be used to disinfect areas on these boats that you may touch. +++
2 person boats from different households will now be allowed.
Members wishing to do so should follow the RYA guidelines on this matter and make an assessment of their own risks and take any mitigating measures they feel appropriate.
Juniors will be allowed to join the racing if they have seamanship and RYA level 3
Sunday juniors and training
Sunday juniors has now recommenced. Courses are now available and can be booked online.
We are experiencing a high demand for these courses and it will be great to see these starting again.
Clubhouse and security
The ladies changing room update should be complete by the 16th August and we are all looking forward to the new look. Again big thanks to Patricia and the team.
Changing rooms can be used from the 16th but no more than 6 people can be in them at any one time. In addition the loos can be used from this date. The showers cannot be used
We will supply sanitisers and have safety signage around the club where appropriate.
The main area in the clubhouse will continue to be off limits.
We intend to have a barbecue on the 16th August to kick start our activities and further details will be issued on this.
Track and Tracing
We will advise members shortly on procedures in this important area.
Membership renewal and boat licence fees
We would ask members to support the club and renew their membership and to pay boat licence fees. We understand that the club is only offering a limited service but we do have fixed costs that we need to cover. We fully understand the financial hardship some members are having and we absolutely do not want members in this situation feeling under pressure to pay their subs. Please in this situation could you communicate with Gareth our membership secretary just so he is aware of your situation.
We can gradually see a return to normal to the sport we all love and I would like to particularly thank the committee for getting us through these tough times.
PLEASE NOTE FOLLOWING ADDITIONAL POINTS IF MEMBERS WISH TO LEISURE SAIL. IT IS STRESSED THAT MEMBERS DOING SO, SAIL ENTIRELY AT THEIR OWN RISK.
Singlehanded boats are allowable and double handed boats but only with a household member as a crew or adopting the bubble system. The club will review this policy continually as we all want to get back to what we enjoy as soon as possible. We appreciate this gradual easing may be disappointing for members, but we must stay safe.
