| Harp Young Sailors (HYS) comprises of instructors and trainees from three of the sailing clubs on the Welsh Harp: WSC, BTYC and SSC. Together we provide Oppies, Toppers, Lasers and Picos giving a comprehensive range of boats to suit all ages and experience. HYS provides children's and youth training between April and October. Training should be fun, so as well as teaching basic sailing, we also include picnic cruises, mini races and ball games on the water. After the session we have a meal in the clubhouse or a barbeque during the summer. Places are restricted as there are a limited number of instructors and boats. Demand for places is always high. In addition to the ongoing Sunday afternoon training with the HYS, there is the opportunity to fast track into sailing by taking the RYA stage 1, 2, 3 & 4 two day sailing course with the Harp Sailing School. |

Please arrive early allowing time for you and your children to change and rig your boat before the session briefing starts at 2pm. All children wishing to sail must be present at the briefing to be allocated with a boat and to be informed of the afternoon’s activities. Intermediate and racing sailors should have their boats rigged for the start of the session. Beginner sailors will rig their boats as part of the training. Please note that latecomers may not be allowed on the water. |

| HYS Safety | |||
Parents/guardians must attend the HYS organized activities with their child, unless they have made arrangements with another responsible adult. They must remain nearby on WHSA premises, within sight of and responsible at all times for the child in their care. Where children are left in the care of a responsible adult, parents are required to leave full contact details and must be contactable at all times. Parents will also be asked to provide the full details of an alternative contact in case of an emergency. Children must be signed in and out before and after each session, and the adult responsible for that day must put his/her name alongside the child's. Children must wear buoyancy aids at all times which are supplied by the club. Parents or Guardians must remain within the vicinity of the pontoons in order to take charge of their children when they come ashore. Safety boat cover is provided whilst children are on the water. |
